How the TradeProof trust score works

A transparent 0–100 score built from public Steam data and community evidence. The same input always produces the same score, and every point is explained on the profile.

Hard caps

Some facts override the points total, because no amount of good history should outweigh them.

Verdicts

70–100 safe, 40–69 caution, below 40 danger. “Scammer” is shown when an account is listed as SCAMMER in the archive or has three or more confirmed reports.

Where the data comes from

  • Steam’s public Web API: profile, level, game count, VAC, game and trade bans. Refreshed at most every 6 hours.
  • The BANNED and CAUTION archive that SteamRep released to communities when it closed (2024 export).
  • Reports submitted by signed-in users and reviewed before they count as confirmed.

Limits you should know about

  • Private profiles hide several signals, which lowers the score. A low score means “less evidence”, not “guilty”.
  • The archive is a historical snapshot, not live. Accounts can change hands.
  • A new scammer with no history and no reports can score like any new account. A score is evidence, not a guarantee.
  • We do not read inventories, trade history or messages.
